Lima is the capital of Peru. Situated on the central coast of the country, on the shores of the Pacific Ocean, flanked by the coastal desert and spread over the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac, and Lurín rivers. It was founded on the 18th of 1535, as "The City of Kings".
It is characterised by its colonial architecture, exquisite gastronomy, modern districts, and the legacy of pre-Hispanic cultures. The mansions, churches, squares, and the famous wooden balconies dating from the colonial and republican eras are the main attraction of the Historic Centre of the city. The heritage of Peru's ancient inhabitants can be appreciated in the various archaeological sites in the city, including the famous Huaca Pucllana (Miraflores). In its museums, you can learn more about the life of ancient Peruvians; the collections of the Larco Museum, the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology, and History of Peru, the Gold Museum, among others, are must-sees.
Barranco and Miraflores are the most attractive districts in the city. The former is the birthplace of intellectuals and artists, famous for its bohemian life, its bars, cafes, its cultural scene, and for preserving traditional spaces of old Lima such as the famous Bridge of Sighs. The latter, more modern and cosmopolitan, is characterised by its nightlife and its extensive promenade, where you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the sea and its sunsets, as well as paragliding or relaxing in its green areas.
Peruvian cuisine is highly acclaimed internationally. Lima is renowned for the quantity and quality of its restaurants, which bring together the flavours of all regions of the country, as well as fusion with Chinese and Japanese cuisine, making it a privileged destination for food enthusiasts. Peru has been chosen as the "best culinary destination" at the World Travel Awards (WTA). In Lima, there is "Central" (Barranco), selected in 2023 as the best restaurant in the world".

HUACA PUCLLANA
Monumental archaeological complex, it is the most impressive and well-preserved of the traces of the Lima civilization in the urban area of the capital of Peru. It is a superb construction covering nearly six hectares of land, with its main pyramid rising 25 metres above the ground. Built with adobe, rounded stones, and sand, from a distance its walls appear to be a large library, filled with old and dusty volumes. Archaeological research places the initial use of Huaca Pucllana in the Lima culture, between the years 400 and 700 AD. It would have been abandoned and repurposed by the Wari culture.
PACHACAMAC
Pachacamac was the main sanctuary of the central coast for over a thousand years. Its temples were visited by crowds of pilgrims, as Pachacamac was an accurate oracle capable of predicting the future and controlling the movements of the earth. The sanctuary is located in the Lurín Valley, which constitutes the territorial framework of its location, and on whose banks, for the past three thousand years, a series of villages have settled, taking advantage of its waters. The earliest occupations date back to the Archaic period (5000 BC); then, in the Formative period (1800 BC - 200 BC), notable settlements include Mina Perdida, Cardal, and Manchay; in the Late Formative period (200 BC - 200 AD), various local styles such as Tablada de Lurín and Villa El Salvador emerged.
